Summer in the Park: A Community Celebration on Saturday 15 July

Head down to Claremont Park on Saturday 15 July from 12-5pm for Summer in the Park, a celebration of five years of the Brent Cross Town Community Fund and the launch of our summer events programme.

Gather your friends, come down for a day of fun and, at 2pm, discover which of this year’s Brent Cross Town Community Fund winners have won the ‘people’s project’ awards!

Programme:
Latin Dancing workshop with @latinadanceruk
12.30 – 1.30pm
Grab your dancing shoes and learn Latin moves with local resident Tina Delgado. Join Tina on stage in Claremont Park for a fun session of dancing along with props!

Art & Crafts with Holly T Burrows  @huzzatbuzza
12 – 3pm; 3.30 – 5pm
Join artist Holly T Burrows for some summer bunting and mask-making fun suitable for all ages (though under 5s may require your helping hands!). Your bunting will be used to inspire visitors by decorating the park and you’ll be able to wear your mask and take it home with you as a memento of your creative day out!

Amazing Facepainting by Jojo
12 – 5pm
Amazing Facepainting by Jojo will create an array of beautiful designs from butterflies to princesses, superheroes to tigers and will bring colour and joy to the event.

Henna art by Henna Artisans
1 – 5pm
Sama, an experienced Henna Artist of Indian origin, will bring the delight of her creative Henna Art to the event. The henna is natural and non-permanent.

Skateboarding With Keep Rolling Project
12-2pm
Community Fund recipients Keep Rolling Project will have free taster sessions available for all the family (ages 5+) to try skateboarding for the first time! Come and get rolling! No booking required – drop by anytime from 12-2pm on the day.

Social Games with F.U.S.E. Youth Project
12-5pm
Participate in social games and activities in the park with Community Fund recipient, F.U.S.E. Youth Project.

Bubble workshops with Maxwell the Bubbleologist!
12 – 5pm
Watch Maxwell make huge, beautiful bubbles, see if you can catch them, and maybe have a go at making some yourself!

The London Ukulele Project  @londonukuleleproject
2.30 – 4.30pm
The London Ukulele Project is a not-for-profit that uses the ukulele to bring people together to help takle loneliness. You will find them at our Summer in the Park community event performing a short set on stage and then wondering like minstrels finding willing participants to learn a chord or two and maybe even play a whole song! Prepare to be serenaded with pure ukulele joy!

Live Music
12-4.30pm
Live music from  from singer and guitarist Matt Gurry, who fronts folk rock band Belle Roscoe, and by Brooke Law, whose uncompromising, emotional and direct music is inspired by such greats as Joan Armatrading, Jeff Buckley and Annie Lennox.

Food and Drink

CANTEEN  @go.canteen
12 – 5pm
Visit our canteen on wheels for fresh, flavourful and authentic Indian favourites. Hearty food with flavour that will stop you in your tracks!

Gussy’s Ice Cream Parlour
11am-5pm
Enjoy a huge selection of ice creams and soft drinks from Claremont Park’s much-loved ice cream parlour.
