Launched in 2017, the Mayor’s London Borough of Culture Award brings Londoners together. It puts culture at the heart of local communities, illuminating the character and diversity of London’s boroughs and demonstrating that culture is for everyone.
This year, Barnet Council is developing a new culture strategy with the aim of becoming London Borough of Culture in 2027. You can support Barnet’s bid by completing this questionnaire before 29 September. The information you share will inform Barnet Council’s Borough of Culture bid, playing a pivotal role in shaping the development of the culture strategy.
In celebration of Barnet’s bid, we’re spotlighting one of the area’s most loved culture destinations: Arts Depot. Located in Finchley, just a short bus ride from Brent Cross Town, Arts Depot is a multi-award winning cultural hub where community and attainability are the driving force behind a diverse programme of performances, exhibitions and opportunities to participate and engage with the arts.
Accessibility is at the heart of the institution’s ethos, and as outlined in their annual Social Impact Report, it provided four free festivals, four free exhibitions and 10 free music events in 2022 alone. It also created opportunities for 500 school pupils to take part in creative learning workshops in school settings as part of their schools and outreach efforts.
