Brent Cross Town celebrates National Apprentice Week

Brent Cross Town National Apprentice Week (Brent Cross Town)

As part of National Apprentice Week, we have identified a range of initiatives that will allow us to contribute to employment, skills development and advancing education, supporting the development of young people through apprenticeships with our contractors.

This week, our contractors JRL Group and Galldris visited Whitefield School to discuss the value of apprenticeships and to offer insights that could help prospective apprentices connect with the right programme.

No matter your background, apprenticeships could be the right path for you. We spoke to four young people who are pursuing a career in construction. If you’re inspired by these stories and would like to know more about getting into construction, send us an email: [email protected]

NIAMH

A career in health and safety through apprenticeships

Niamh’s path into health and safety began unexpectedly after a school presentation by a construction firm. This inspired her to consider a career in the industry and she was soon hired by JRL Group as part of its annual apprentice programme.

“From the start, I was involved in site inspections, risk assessments, and safety briefings. The structured training combined with on-the-job learning allowed me to apply my studies in real-life situations, making the learning process engaging and rewarding. Working alongside experienced professionals, I quickly gained confidence and practical knowledge that no textbook could teach,” she says. Adding, “If you’re considering an apprenticeship, go for it! It’s an amazing way to gain hands-on experience, learn from industry professionals, and build a career with real opportunities for growth. University isn’t the only option — apprenticeships provide just as many, if not more, career prospects!”
