Clitterhouse Playing Fields Interactive Map

The vision
To be delivered in three phases, the rejuvenated 44-acre green space will be dedicated to a mix of relaxing spaces and state-of-the-art play areas, as well as 350 newly planted trees and nine acres of wildflower planting — all designed to better connect people with nature. Whether exploring alone or with friends and family, you’re guaranteed to find the perfect quiet spot to unwind and reconnect, surrounded by lush plant life. Picnic tables and benches aplenty will welcome alfresco dining under the summer sun, while the Clitterhouse Stream will be renaturalised to create new habitats for native water-loving plants and wildlife.

Phase 1
We have now begun the first phase of improvements to Clitterhouse Playing Fields as part of our plans to create enhanced new spaces for sport, play and relaxation. The 44 acres of Clitterhouse Playing Fields are at the heart of our vision for a new park town that will offer local people new opportunities to participate in sport and play.
The first phase will deliver a new multi-purpose lawn and natural amphitheatre, picnic areas, play areas, accessible paths and lighting. New sports facilities, including a multi-use netball/tennis court, basketball court, all-wheel park, table tennis tables, and outdoor gym zones, will give residents more ways to get active.
A farm-themed playground will also be created, using repurposed play equipment from Exploratory Park. Set among fruit trees and low vegetation, it will feature a children’s learner bike trail for those building confidence on two wheels.
In total, 350 new trees and nine acres of wildflowers will be planted across the playing fields, enhancing biodiversity and creating new spaces to relax and explore.

Phase 2
One of the most exciting additions to Clitterhouse Playing Fields will be a brand new pavilion, designed by DaeWha Kang Design. The London-based architecture studio, founded by former Zaha Hadid Architects senior associate DaeWha Kang, has conceived the pavilion as a community gathering space, located at the crossroads where the north, south, east and west paths meet. Flanked by a boules court, mini golf course and two new football pitches, the pavilion will provide essential amenities such as public toilets, a café and sports changing rooms, as well as a generous terrace from which visitors can enjoy scenic views of the playing fields with delicious food and drink.

Phase 3
The final phase will mark the completion of the sports facilities, featuring the addition of two state-of-the-art all-weather hockey pitches. These new pitches will provide year round playing surface suitable for players of all levels, helping to encourage more community participation in hockey and other sports while complementing the wide range of active spaces already being created across Clitterhouse Playing Fields.
