 (Brent Cross Town)

Nothing transports you into another world quite like a good movie. Whether you want to spend time to be swept up by a whirlwind romance, immerse yourself in a different culture or get entangled in a familial saga, there are myriad films waiting to absorb you.

The best way to see a good film has to be in the cinema, complete with popcorn and an audience to laugh or cry along with. Given the choice, we’d always head to the Phoenix Cinema. A proper old cinema with comfy seats and an eclectic programme spanning contemporary masterpieces, old classics and an impressive selection of live performances broadcast from the National Theatre and Royal Opera House, the Phoenix is a North London gem.

Here are Phoenix Manager Zalan Pall’s top five films for early 2023
