At Brent Cross Town, we are pleased to be supporting The University of Manchester on a new research study which aims to create a new measurement tool to help understand community wellbeing – this new measurement is called ‘The Flourishing Index’. This research study is also supported by Buro Happold’s sustainability team, who are greatly interested in the social as well as environmental impact of new developments.

If you are local to Brent Cross Town, you may have already been interviewed by The University of Manchester researchers over the summer as part of their early data collection, or you may have seen one of the five new Vivacity sensors which have been installed.

Vivacity are specialists in gathering anonymous information on traffic and public highways, and how people use them. You will be able to see the five sensors located on Geron Way, Brent Terrace, Tilling Road, Claremont Road and the Hendon Way (near the subway leading to and from Tesco).

The sensors collect only anonymous data, in line with the rules established by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), which will help the University of Manchester understand how people move around the area. This will include measuring how much people walk, cycle, scooter or drive in and around the local roads and pavements. For more information on how the sensors work, please visit vivacitylabs.com.

Our goal is for a unified Brent Cross Town community to join together, innovating and pioneering as we collectively work towards our flourishing community and a park town for future London. So from 11th November, you can input into the research and be part of the creation of this new initiative here.
