Brent Cross West – Coming Soon!

Last month, the signs went up at Brent Cross West, a clear indication that London’s newest mainline station will soon be open.

Sitting on the Midland Main Line between Cricklewood and Hendon, the station is only a five minute walk from Claremont Park, and its Thameslink trains will transport passengers to and from Central London in as little as 12 minutes, with up to eight trains per hour at peak times.

Brent Cross West is being built by VolkerFitzpatrick. The project is led by Barnet Council and managed by Mace, with Network Rail a key programme partner.  

With swift and regular trains, the station will be a welcome addition to the already excellent transport links that connect Brent Cross Town with central London, Barnet and surrounding boroughs, and outer London.

Offering new opportunities to local people has always been a central ambition of the Brent Cross regeneration programme, and the construction of the station has been in line with this aim. So far, 102 Barnet residents have been employed on the project, and 20% of the workforce are from Barnet and neighbouring Brent and Camden boroughs.

Five young people have worked on the project through the kick start scheme, and women – traditionally underrepresented in the construction industry – have been encouraged to get involved and offered work placements. 

The project is also in line with Barnet Council’s quest to become a net zero borough. As well as providing fast trains that reduce the need for people to drive, the station will have excellent bus links, including three routes that will stop directly outside the station, alongside links to cycle routes and plenty of cycle storage.

Brent Cross West is set to open this autumn, with the official launch date to be announced this summer. Watch this space and our social media for updates!
